Retention Issues

Technology: For the most part, we found the technology not a problem for students (although the “clunkiness” of CE6 may be a problem for instructors). So do we have a problem with instructor retention?

Pedagogy: How does it differ in f2f, 50/50, and 100% online courses? How does it differ in composition courses from courses taught in other divisions? Are we doing all we can to communicate and teach in this environment? Can we generate a "best practices" list?)

Student retention? Are steep drop offs at beginning of semester due to student expectations? Could this be alleviated in the wording of course offering? Are we having problems retaining students after this period? If so, why? Can we quickly identify students (or have them identify themselves) early on who are not ready to take an online course (lacking time management, self-motivation, proactive skills, etc)?
